What is the QMJHL Central Scouting Service?
The QMJHL central scouting service provides the 18 teams with quality means for the scouts to perform their work in identifying, assessing and scouting the most promising players found in Quebec, the Atlantic provinces and six New-England states part of the territory of the league.
What is Central Scouting?
Central Scouting is comprised of twelve scouts who give teams massive amounts of information regarding players registered with elite leagues, schedules, tournaments, etc. Central Scouting also provides teams with player evaluations. These evaluations are published on a list which is released every year on May 1st.
How many rookies are there in the QMJHL every year?
Year after year, each team must give opportunities to a large number of rookies, usually between six and ten. They are given the opportunity to replace 19 and 20 year-old veterans who have graduated to higher level or players who have not lived up to expectations. Approximately 140 rookies try to crack QMJHL team line-ups every year.
How many Scouts does a hockey team hire?
The event is a major one and the Head Scout of each team usually hires up to five to ten scouts to cover Eastern Canada and the North-West area of United states to identify the most promising players, observe them a number of times and try to forecast how good they will become in major junior hockey.

Following Luneau atop the rankings are Antonin Verreault of the Saint-Eustache Vikings (2nd) and Michael Mastrodomenico of the Laval-Montréal Rousseau-Royal (3rd). Central Scouting is comprised of experienced scouts and is led by its new director Patrick Desrosiers.
