What is the T Gateway?
Your T-Gateway allows you to connect multiple devices to the internet, through a Wi-Fi network connection and Ethernet network connection. You may choose to connect via one method.
Is telstra T Gateway NBN compatible?
No you cannot. TG797 is not an FTTN VDSL2 modem. However you may be able to turn TG797 into a switch and hook it up behind F@st 5355 and use the additional ethernet ports on TG797.
Can’t connect to telstra Gateway?
Restart your modem:
- Remove the power cable from your modem for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Wait 1-2 minutes for the modem to settle and go ‘green’, now check to see if your devices are connecting. This is a ‘reboot’ and can often solve connection problems.

- Plug the Telstra Cable Adaptor into a cable port. First, you’ll need to find the right cable port in your house.
- Plug the Telstra Cable Adaptor into a power outlet.
- Connect the Telstra Cable Adaptor to your Telstra Smart Modem™
- Plug your Telstra Smart Modem™ into the power outlet.
Are Technicolor modems any good?
We tested the new DOCSIS 3.1 modem they provided to us, the Technicolor – E31T2V1, and it’s a great modem running a reliable chipset that does exactly what it’s supposed to do.
Can I use my own modem with Telstra NBN?
Yes you can use your own modem to connect to a Telstra NBN service but if you need a phone you will still need a Telstra modem to act as VOIP ATA connected to a LAN port on your third party modem.
What is the admin password for Telstra gateway?
The default password is admin. If you have changed the password and forgotten it the only way to access the gateway is to restore the gateway to factory default settings. All custom settings in the gateway including password will be restored to factory default settings.
How do I find my Telstra gateway username and password?
Check the sticker on teh bottom/back of the router. The default username and password are there. If you have changed them, you will need to do a factory reset and start from scratch.
