For some serious hikers reaching the summit of Mont Blanc is the fulfilment of a lifetimes ambition. Sadly, there is little alternative than to stay in the Gouter refuge before and/or after your summit attempt.
When does the refuge open and close?
The refuge is open and staffed from mid-May to end of September, depending on weather conditions. Out of season, the refuge is unstaffed but beds, blankets are dishes are made available for 20 people. Please contact the refuge directly for this season’s prices and opening/closing dates.
Where to stay in the Aiguille du Goûter?
Some people stay one night at the Tête Rousse hut before ascending to Refuge du Goûter. At the base of the final slope of the Aiguille du Goûter, a trail leads to the Grand Couloir. The Couloir is narrow and the rockfall here is continuous.
