Made in 1993, first year, and in the rarer blonde tolex and maroon grill cloth. Most of these Blues Deluxe’s came in a genuine tweed covering with a brown grille cloth. The original concept of these amps was to have a vintage style look and sound in a more affordable package with modern features.

The super reverb is going to have a stronger midrange than a deluxe reverb If you really want to know what a deluxe reverb sounds like, play one. They have them everywhere. I’d also suggest you check your local craigslist for used amps. Look for a Fender Blues Deluxe or Blues Deville, or any vintage Fender.

Stratoskater likes this. Most fender amps have similar qualities when they do break up. That being said, The deluxe and super are two VERY different sounding amplifiers. This is mainly because the deluxe is a 1×12 and the super is a 4×10.

The Deluxe reverb will get sweet overdrive at the lowest volume, the Super next (but this is very loud) followed by the Twin which needs to be hellishly loud to OD. I’d probably get a Super Reverb and an attenuator.

The Deluxe Reverb RI can get real loud but is easily manageable at household volumes and retains great tone at low volume. To get great overdrive out of it though, you have to crank it up some, which takes it out of bedroom level if others are sleeping.
