Keldorn is available to recruit from Chapter 2. You’ll encounter him during the side quest Find and Destroy the Cult of the Unseeing, he is fighting some random undead creatures (actually the zombie won’t fight back, so Keldorn is the sure victor) in the sewers underneath Athkatla Temple District.
Can you get Keldorn back?
There’re timers in various stages of this companion quest. And if you allow Keldorn to retire after helping him with his family affairs, he can’t be recruited again until the Throne of Bhaal campaign. Now go with Keldorn back to his estates to get some closure on this one.

If you wish to keep Viconia available to recruit later, you may kill the Flaming Fist officer and not speak to Viconia afterward. She will remain waiting in place until you return and speak to her.

Talk to Viconia first and agree to defend her, then when the Flaming Fist arrives (almost immediately) wait for him to speak to you before attacking him and tell him that he can’t take Viconia. Then he turns hostile and you can kill him without losing reputation.
