Today, many of those system’s camera end often uses entry level DSLR with kit lens or other inexpensive lens (like many of school ID photo system often designed around Canon entry level DSLR), however, they have terrible lighting to go with in many instance, so you will get terrible photo.

What are the rules for ID pictures?

In your photo you must:

  • be facing forward and looking straight at the camera.
  • have a neutral expression and your mouth closed (e.g. no smiling)
  • have your eyes open, visible and free from reflection or glare from glasses (you can’t wear sunglasses)
  • not have hair in front of your eyes.
  • not have anything covering your face.

What happens if you miss picture day at school?

Most schools plan for student absences on picture day, and have an option for retakes a few weeks (or sometimes months) later. Promote your retake day just like you would your original picture day, with posters, announcements and parent emails.

Can I smile in my student card?
