The LEAD program provides the licensee and their employees with practical information on selling alcoholic beverages safely, responsibly, and legally, and preventing illicit drug activity on or around their licensed establishment.

How long do lead certifications last?
The initial EPA lead certification training is 8 hours in length, and the lead certification is good for 5 years from the date of lead certification course completion. State authorized lead certification programs may vary.
Do Lead Cards expire?
The LEAD Certificate does not expire and does not need to be renewed. You will have an opportunity to print your certificate at the conclusion of the course.
How do I get lead certification?
Individuals:
- Register and attend a Lead Renovator Training class and successfully successfully pass the required exam. The class is 8 hours long.
- Get your lead certificate in only 1 day and maintain a copy of it on your job site while you do work in these pre-1978 properties.

LEAD Training is Currently Available! ABC offers two options for the free LEAD training, Online LEAD Course or In-person LEAD Training. Note that LEAD does not meet the RBS requirements under AB 1221 which can be found on RBS Training page.
How long does it take to get an EPA lead activities certification?
