GENCON is a standard voyage charter party. It is a general purpose agreement for the services of a ship in exchange for freight and can be used in a variety of trades. It is accompanied by its own bill of lading, CONGENBILL 2016. The latest edition of this contract is GENCON 1994.
What is Gen Con and where is it held?
Created in 1968 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Gen Con has taken place in Indianapolis since 2003, and is contracted to stay in Indianapolis through 2023.
Does the GenCon apply to gross terms only?
As mentioned in the comments relating to Clause 2 (Owners’ Responsibility Clause) the printed alternative (a) in the previous edition of the GENCON Charter providing for gross terms has now been deleted making the GENCON apply f.i.o. terms only.
