The methanol concentration of hard cider varied from 0.037% to approximately 0.091%, and the methanol content of apple eau-de-vie ranged from below 200 mg to more than 400 mg/100mL of 40% ethanol. The United States legal limit of methanol for fruit brandy is 0.35% by volume or 280 mg/100mL of 40% ethanol.
Is Somersby gluten free?
Somersby cider is gluten-free. During the production we don’t use wheat or cereal-based ingredients that would usually be a source of gluten. Only our beer-based cider in Poland, which we call Somersby Apple Beer Drink contains gluten because it is based on beer. All our normal ciders are free of gluten though.

It’s much higher in apple juice than beer. The boiling point of methanol is 148°F(64.7°C) so if you want to boil it off before the Ethanol, boiling point 173°F (78.37°C) you could do that. Bring up to temperature for a few minutes should be enough to blow off the methanol leaving most of the ethanol behind.

If you’re overly concerned about methanol in your cider, pasteurizing the cider and not adding pectinase enzyme has generally shown to reduce the methanol levels in the final cider.
